If you try and imagine the most beautiful English Country Pub you could do no better than The Swan at Swinbrook. Two miles East of Burford by a bridge on the River Windrush rest this ancient pub. Attached to the Mill Cottage with the river running through it and right by the most picturesque of Cotswold cricket pitches you could not find a more genuine and timeless location.
The Swan Inn has recently been completely refurbished and now has a lighter and more open feel with the addition of a beautiful green oak conservatory.
The walks in the area are renowned for their beauty and rolling hills with many happy walkers breaking their journey for a delicious BLT or home-made salt beef sandwich with beef from the family farm. Dogs are welcome!

The real ales are extremely well kept - Hook Norton is the local brew (click here for more details) and the 6X is also very popular. There is also one guest ale.
There is a range of organic cider and the Cotswold Organic Lager which is becoming increasingly popular and is brewed just down the road (www.cotswoldbrewingcompany.com) The wine list has been carefully chosen.

The imaginative pub food has gained an extremely good reputation locally - it is a good balance between traditional and modern English cuisine. The Aberdeen Angus beef is supplied by Archie's Uncle who farms in the neighbouring village and is slaughtered nearby and properly hung to enhance its unique flavour. The fresh bread is delivered daily from Hufkins of Burford and the vegetables are grown nearby on the famous Evesham Vale. Game and Smoked meats come from the neighbouring Barrington Estate (www.uptonsmokery.co.uk)

The Swan Inn is beautifully located in the picturesque Cotswold village of Swinbrook, 2 miles east of Burford. The pub is owned by the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire(formally Deborah Mitford and the last of the infamous Mitford sisters) and leased by Archie and Nicola Orr-Ewing. (owners of The Kings Head Inn, Bledington - www.kingsheadinn.net)
Archie and Nicola have worked closely with the Dowager Duchess to create a very special pub. Although the Duchess lives at Chatsworth (www.chatsworth.org) she regularly visits The Swan and Swinbrook as it is where she spent her childhood.
