The Swan Inn, not only exists in a quintessentially English village (Swinbrook) where the time has stopped still in another era, but is also the set-location for Lady Sybil’s elopement with the family chauffeur, Branson, one of the key and most controversial story-lines of Downton’s Second Season.
A trip to Swinbrook will really bring to life the wonderful world that Downton Abbey re-kindled, the village is magical and extraordinary in many ways and therefore not surprising it was chosen for the series’ most romantic plot.
